Hi! I'm Karissa and this is my blog Rooted in the Virginia Piedmont. Rooted is a blog about conservation and community building in the Piedmont, told through the lens of a Piedmont transplant (me!) who has called this region home for a decade.

I arrived in 2015 with my husband, settling in Rappahannock County, where we worked and started our family. Later, we moved to Fauquier County, VA, where we continue to raise our two active children, exploring and embracing all that this incredible region has to offer.

This blog reflects my passions: conservation, local philanthropy, and outdoor education. My goal is to connect neighbors with the people and places that shape our community while emphasizing the importance of land and environmental stewardship—not just for today, but for future generations.
